One Direction is one of a group of male singers British-Irish that formed in the city of London, England in 2010. The group consists knew Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. One Direction came from the talent show, The X Factor where they became the third champion at The X Factor season 7th in 2010 last. After the success in the UK, One Direction is then able to penetrate the American market and the world after being signed by an American record label, Columbia Records in 2011.

At the start of The X Factor in 2010, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson auditioned in the category of soloists. But they all failed. After receiving advice from the jury, they eventually join to form a boy band and re-auditioned singers in the group category. They named themselves One Direction on the advice of Harry Styles. He thought that the name One Direction will look great and also cool in the audience's ears when read by the host of The X Factor, Peter Dickson.

One Direction eventually became the third champion in The X Factor under Rebecca Ferguson, who won two and Matt Cardle, who won one. But after the competition, the popularity of One Direction actually increased to throughout the UK.
